03 August 2026: FIU Release New Sanctions Guidance (2026)

The Isle of Man Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has published a new guidance document on Sanctions Reporting.

The guidance provides clarification on how to report suspected actual or attempted breaches, as well as how to report assets frozen in line with a sanctions designation.

Financial Sanctions

Sanctions are prohibitions and restrictions put in place with the aim of maintaining or restoring international peace and security. They generally target specific individuals or entities, or particular sectors, industries or interests.

They may be aimed at such people and things in a particular country or territory, or some organisation or element within them. The Isle of Man implements all United Nations ('UN') and UK sanctions regimes (made under the UK Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018).

All UN and UK sanctions designations are immediately effective in the Isle of Man. This means any changes to UK/UN regimes apply to the Isle of Man as soon as they are made. The Isle of Man also has the power to make sanctions designations. Further information and links to relevant sanctions lists can be found on the Customs and Immigration Sanctions Lists Webpage
