Yesterday, Gambling Supervision Commission Chief Executive Officer, Mark Rutherford, presented at an event organised by the Isle of Man Institute of Directors alongside Bettina Roth, Chief Executive Officer of the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority and Erica Humphries, Financial Crime Communications and Outreach Lead at the AML/CFT Policy Office.
Ahead of the September 2026 MONEYVAL evaluation visit, the presenters outlined the MONEYVAL timetable, offering insights into the mutual evaluation process. Mr Rutherford gave an update on the progress of the upcoming money laundering assessment of the gambling sector. The presentation explained how the National Risk Appetite Statement (NRAS) aligned with the conclusions of the upcoming assessment and outlined shifts in the sector since the previous NRA, and the emerging risks specific to the online gambling sector.
Updates from speakers also included a summary of the significant work that has been undertaken in preparing all the data that feeds into the National Risk Assessment from the public and private sectors. The presentations highlighted the importance of data sharing in order to have a complete understanding of the risk picture.
Significant outreach will take place in the weeks ahead to assist the industry in digesting the contents of the reports.
