24 October 2025: Isle of Man Government Release Highlights Sanctions Developments

The Isle of Man Government release highlights recent Sanctions developments, drawing attention to sanctions implemented by the UK and US Governments last week targeting a network that operates illegal scam centres deriving from Southeast Asia.

Justice and Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson MHK commented in the recent press release:

“The Isle of Man is resolute in its commitment to playing a proactive role in the international fight against transnational organised crime. Sanctions are one of the mechanisms we employ to protect our community and uphold the integrity of our financial systems. We will continue to work closely with our partners in the UK and beyond to ensure that those who seek to use the Island for criminality are held to account.”

Island-Wide Commitment

The Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC) is working with the government under a zero-tolerance stance on financial crime. The Isle of Man remains committed to ensuring that its domestic agencies continue to work collaboratively, sharing resources and information where needed, and improvements to domestic information-sharing pathways continue to be made where required.

Our foremost responsibility as regulators is to protect the public interest by ensuring safety, security, and fairness. Behind the scenes, the GSC continues to engage with partner agencies, both domestically and internationally, to ensure that it remains proactive and proportionate in its supervisory approach, ensuring a safe future for the sector. Coordination nationally and internationally is essential to combating global financial crime threats. The GSC has updated data sharing agreements internationally and with law enforcement and continues to provide regular stakeholder updates.

Keep up to Date

In accordance with the Sanctions Act 2024, UK sanctions are automatically applied in the Isle of Man. All persons in business or a profession in the Island, including financial institutions, must check whether they maintain any account, or otherwise hold or control funds or economic resources, for individuals or entities included in the lists and take the necessary actions.

The GSC sends sanctions alerts to key stakeholders on a regular basis via email and publishes relevant typology reports on its publications pages to promote understanding of AML/CFT risks; however, the GSC recommends Operators also check the government sanctions webpage directly on a regular basis to keep up to date with the latest key information.
