28 January 2026: MONEYVAL Country Training Mock Evaluation

On Monday and Tuesday this week, the GSC was invited to participate in the MONEYVAL Country Training sessions held at the Villa Marina. Country Training is a standard feature of the MONEYVAL assessment process and provides private and public sector bodies an understanding of the criteria for the evaluation, how it will be conducted, and how they can each contribute. The two-day programme delivered valuable insight into MONEYVAL processes, expectations and gave agencies the chance to experience being interviewed by the MONEYVAL secretariat.

Monday’s sessions were open to both public and private representatives and focused on deepening understanding of the mutual evaluation framework and supporting strong implementation of international AML/CFT standards. Private sector representatives took part in the morning session, gaining invaluable experience and expanding their knowledge in preparation for the Isle of Man’s 2026 evaluation.

Yesterday, the GSC were allowed to experience a mock on-site session with two highly experienced members of the MONEYVAL secretariat. The GSC took part in mock interviews on various FATF Immediate Outcomes (IOs). Collaboration was key, with several staff members across multiple government agencies contributing to the interviews. Representatives from GSC senior management, Licensing, General Supervision, the AML and enforcement division and Outreach attended.

Thank you to MONEYVAL and all participants for their constructive engagement throughout the training. The GSC extends a special thanks to members of staff who stepped up to represent their department over the two days, calmly explaining GSC processes to MONEYVAL with obvious knowledge and experience.

These sessions mark the official start of the MONEYVAL mutual evaluation, culminating in the September 2026 two-week onsite visit.
